Brawta Books is a subsidiary of the Brawta Foundation. These entities are the brainchild of Elethia Rickham, Editor and Translator. As the name "brawta" suggests in Jamaica, there's more to get -- something extra.
Rickham uses this concept to republish well-loved folklore, from across the Americas, in Spanish and English. The result is two-fold: (i) out-of-print books get extra life for our reading pleasure and (ii) the designated charities or institutions receive extra benefit from the proceeds. That's Brawta!
Support Brawta Books and the Brawta Foundation. Help our Jamaican children read and keep on reading.
Current Beneficiaries of the Brawta Foundation:
The STEP Centre is a School for Therapy, Education and Parenting of children with multiple disabilities. Assistance is needed in the areas of sponsorships and to support its building fund.

The Junior Library, located in St. Ann's Bay, provides intellectual stimulation to hundreds of children throughout the parish. Our support is needed for its ongoing development.
